We went to the Meridian Temple cause the Boise one was closed. It is huge. But we had a good time.
We were at practice for mtbing doing time trials. Dru decided to take some of the kids who had finished on a cooldown ride. All the coaches had radios.
While Dru was riding downhill his radio unclipped from his shirt and went dangling close to his tire and spokes. He bent down to quickly grab it and slid sideways and crashed.
He hurt but thought he was fine for a few days. Then on the Saturday afternoon he couldn’t breath properly. So we went to the ER.
Turns out he had a collapsed lung that had filled with blood. So they needed to drain it and make sure it was ok.
So they shoved this tube in his lung and started draining it. He said it was the most pain he’s ever been in equaled with one other time in his childhood. I felt super bad for him.
He ended up staying in hospital until that next Tuesday to make sure he was ok.
We received lots of help and love from many people and Dru was able to recover thanks to great care.
Here’s Takeshi taking care of him.
He was just so tired. But he healed well.
Here he is coming home to rest and recover at home.
In other news we made the season teams and decided to name them NZ and Aussie indigenous animal names. It was really awesome.
I’m glad Dru was ok. He scares me.
