So Pete surprised mum with a trip to Paris. I think the price was right and they had some time so went for it. Mum said she had an amazing time and she liked the snails. She said Pete didn't.
Great shot of both of them.
Statue of Liberty over there.
Random peeps they dined with hahahahaha
Mum took pics of these statues and then gave us a break down of her thoughts of what they were thinking haha
So this one {above} she figured was a mother who was over her kids.
She figured this one was a drunk person.
And she said that these guys need to get a room man.
I guess this bridge has locks on it for a reason but they stopped it because it was making the bridge too heavy, but some people were sneaking more locks on.
Mum looking good infront of some art work that looks like it's famous. Is that monet?
Selfies at the train station.
Mum said the line to this was longer than the actual ride.
Then they took that underwater train to London and spent a day there. How cool is that? Mum said it was pretty neat.
In a black London taxi.
The night they came home was the night of the shooting. So they'd planned their trip well.
Im really glad they got to do this.
Nothing like enjoying a little bit of your life right? Totally deserved.
So Easter just kinda came this year and I just wasn't feeling it. As in I wasn't feeling all the baskets, eggs, hunts part of it. It's the first year I haven't been into it you know. I don't know why. Maybe I'm tired? Who knows. I'm not against all of it of course, it's super fun for the kids and us you know and Emiko cried because she found out she wasn't gonna get a hunt this year. I felt bad about that, but she'll be alright man.
Saturday I made Easter Eggs. I made strawberry, banana, coconut, and plain. It went well this year. They taste good.
The rest of Saturday was full of soccer and cleaning/chores.
The kids played really well in their soccer games. Yuki scored 4 times and Takeshi twice. They're doing really well.
Later on that night we had our mates, the Cranes, over. Piper and Isaac played with the kids outside and Cesha and Tracey sat and talked the night away.
It was the first time I'd made a ham. It was ok. It helped that it was fully cooked so you can't really go wrong. I didn't really know that.
It was a good dinner with great company. I'm glad they came over.
Sunday Dru and I didn't get up until 10am. We must've needed the sleep!!! We spent the morning with the kids. Dru helped Yuki write her talk that she'd neglected to write. I spent time with Emiko and the boys and we slowly got dressed and ready for church.
Church was great. I enjoyed sacrament as well as the youth programme at the end.
We came home and I made these hotcross buns and we all hung out and watched Easter video's so we could focus on Christ. It was really nice actually.
We then headed over to our neighbours house to celebrate Easter with their family. It was really nice.
I took a salad and hot cross buns and we hung out with them for a couple of hours.
Then they gave me this crystal bowl that belonged to their grandma. I love it so much and don't know exactly what to do with it. What would you do with it?
Right now it's on my table with almonds and raisins in it. I want everyone to see it cause it's so wonderful but just aren't a very good design kinda girl so can't figure out what to do. Anyway it's the best Easter gift ever!!!
It was a great Easter and super low key. I really liked it.
I'm grateful for Christ. I'm grateful for this weekend. I'm grateful for my family and for the low key togetherness we had this weekend.
I love my life.
So here's just a re-cap of life lately.
Emiko's schooling is going really well. I think she's catching on pretty quickly. I was worried for a bit but she seems to be coming along well.
We recently finished Charlotte's Web together and when I read the page about when Charlotte dies I had a little weeping session. Emiko wasn't moved to tears but looked at me and said "This is sad isn't it mummy?"
It's just so sad man. I like this book. It was nice to read it again.
Now Emiko and I are onto other books of her choice. I'm enjoying our time together.
Spring soccer is in full swing now, with one game down and 5 more to go. Yuki and Takeshi are playing and re doing well despite Takeshi's face in the background here. It was SO COLD it was almost unbelievable. I'm surprised the kids did as well as they did with how cold it was. I was all bundled up and could've used a big blanket wrapped around me as well!! Fun times.
Here's a picture of Yuki with some of her soccer mates.
Then here's Takeshi. He wants to grow his hair out. It's slow and it's in his face and I'm actually surprised he's ok with it all, but whatever. The other night I was looking at him and realized that he'd make a great Kubo for Halloween. I think he'd also be a great as that kid from Big Hero 6
My only dark kid man, and I use the term 'dark' relatively.
Then Masaru had a huge assignment he's been working on at school over the past month or so. He got Venezuela for his country. He had to hand in a 3D version of something from his country. I guess Venezuela has the tallest waterfalls? I did not know that, but anyway, he decided to do that.
Here it is.
A store is closing down close to us so I purchased some eggs and this wreath and had the kids help me stick the eggs on the wreath. Turned out a little crazy but cute enough right?
I like it.
Then Dru and I went on a mtb ride last night.
Weather was perfect but the trails were muddy man. I slipped a couple of times and thought "Slow down Milz, be careful man"
So no records set but fun to be had.
Dru's face says it all. Doesn't he look super happy to be having his picture taken?
Look at that awesome mess. Love it.
I've been mtb 3 times this week and have had a blast. I love my new handlebars on my bike and have re-named my bike 'Fury' because of it. I love her so much hahahahaha
Easter weekend and with no family around we're kinda just winging it.
I don't wanna do a hunt, and we haven't been invited to any egg hunts, so looks as if my kids won't be doing an Easter egg hunt this year which is fine. My kids aren't gonna care too much I don't reckon. They're pretty good.
I got them a couple of chocolate eggs to have and I think they'll be sweet with it.
I wanna show them and talk to them more about Christ and the reason for the celebration you know.
To be truthful I just don't wanna put forth the effort to do some elaborate thing, plus I don't wanna spend all this money on candy and stupid gifts. My kids have enough man and I'm kinda over it.
So I'll make hot cross buns and go for another round of trying to make mum's easter eggs that I stuff up every year and nobody wants to eat and thinks are gross.
But I won't give up my traditions man. I have very little from my childhood, so despite everyone I will make my mother's easter eggs and force them on my family and maybe neighbours and hope for the best !!!!!!!
