What I'm trusting
So this week and some other weeks with all that's happened, between funerals and my Dad's birthday and Disneyland I'm trusting family.
I love my family, all of them both the Nakaya side and the Wright side. What a blessing they ALL are in my life. I'm overwhelmed with the feeling of gratitude I have for all of my family and how they bless me and love me and who they are in my life and the impact they have on me.
It's a true blessing to have these relationships. Having family in my life makes my life easier and fuller and happier. What a blessing to have people who know you and yet still love you. People you can call on who you trust with your kids, or with your life, or with your secrets.
I love my family and am often humbled by their kindness and their invested love in me.
What I'm grateful for
I'm grateful for kindness.
As well as my family being super kind, to me and my family, I also have friends who are very kind to me as well. I had a friend send me flowers, other friends take my children or just talk to me. I have people who help me at church doing lots and lots to help the youth programme to work well. Just a lot of kind things and kind people around me. Dru is kind to me as well as the children, neighbours and friends on social media are kind to me.
I'm grateful for kindness.
What inspires me
What inspires me is people who remain happy in crappy situations. I mean there was a difference in people who worked on Southwest airlines you know. Some were tired and done and some were tired and done yet were super kind and nice and had a smile on their faces. Some disneyland people who were in charge of the rides were tired and over it and filed us through without a smile and some laughed were kind and had a smile and even gave us a free fast pass ticket. People who work with these massive lines of people all day, every day and yet still remain positive, happy, upbeat and kind are an inspiration to me. I would hope to be like that, yet I fear I wouldn't. What great people.
How am I practicing my faith
I'm trying to pray more, it's semi working. I'm trying to write down and be aware of the gifts around me. I'm trying to be kind to people, apart from that lady on the tram ride at Disneyland I guess. I'm still a work in progress, even at my ripe age. I'm trying to be true to my feelings and work them out and not apologize for feeling, loving and being.
So here's to another great week of ups and downs and around about's.

Disneyland - after dinner until the end
After dinner we were refreshed and ready to rock and roll again. We decided to go to the Little Mermaid ride. The line up there wasn't too bad, maybe 20 mins and it was neat to see all of the little details that Brooke pointed out to us. Like the corral lights and shells in the ground and the shell tops on the poles. It was really well thought out. You sat in a shell type ride and went around looking at the story full of stuff. It was so cute man. They had that underwater song going with all the characters and that was my favourite. Just so well thought out and done.
Then we waited in line for our longest wait of the night.......40 mins waiting for the Goofy ride. We talked and hung out and laughed together while in line. Emiko got on Brooke's back for a while as well. Emiko was one lucky duck man, her line waiting could've been a heck of a lot longer.
Here they are on their goofy ride.
Here's my little partner in crime Audrey. We always had fun together. The goofy ride is kind've like the mouse ride at Lagoon, except the goofy ride isn't as whiplash'ish. Those rides always freak me out cause it's like you're going to just go off the end and we're so high up. I have to concentrate on the tracks, or I'd completely freak out. I have a slight fear of heights that I can usually talk myself out of. It was fun though and I'm glad we waited for it.
Then a miracle happened. When we were lining up for Goofy, the attendant was lining everybody up and letting them in, then stopped right infront of us. We'd been waiting so long and so we were like "noooooooo" hahahahaha
Then he comes back and hands us this ticket. Now it might just look like a piece of paper to you but to us it was EVERYTHING. This little piece of paper meant we could go on ANY ride we wanted on FAST PASS!!!!!
We'd been REALLY wanting to go on the cars ride but it was a 2 hour wait. We just couldn't bring ourselves to do it, BUT with THIS pass our problems were ALL solved!! We were SO excited I just couldn't contain myself and went up to him and gave him a HUGE hug and said thanks a few times.
With our ticket in hand we all headed off straight away to the cars ride with happy faces and a new bounce in our step.

On our way over Shauna insisted that we get our picture taken infront of the Mickey Mouse ferris wheel. I'm glad we did, cause this picture turned out to be my favourite of all. Thanks Shauna.
When you go into the cars land it's like you've walked straight into the movie. It's amazing people. I was trying to figure out how they did it and didn't quite know 100%. It was simply well done to say the least. Here we are at flo's gas station. Cute right?
We made it in 10 mins onto the cars ride and went three in the front and three in the back. Audrey and Grandma are in the back with Myles.
I loved this ride. It was fast and fun and showed us the whole town and went through the movie really well. It was one of my favourite's for sure.
They race you against another car and you have no control over it, but we won. So that was a highlight for the kids as well.
I had to get this picture for Dru and the kids. We always tell each other we're getting cozy in the cozy cone. It's become a saying in our house. So I know I needed to send them this picture.

Then here we are getting our picture with the fire engine. So cute right?
We then headed over to the 'mater ride and waited in line for 5 mins for that ride. It was fun but too short. They needed to let it keep going for another couple of mins.
We then split teams and Brooke and Grandma went to save us a spot for the 10:30pm lights parade while me and the kids all went to line up for the Soaring ride. The ride said it was a 40 mins wait but it wasn't. It only took us 20 mins and we were grateful for that.
The Soaring ride is a ride that you sat on, letting your feet dangle, and it takes you on a ride accross the world from place to place. You move around like you're flying through animals and trees and mountains and they spray smells so it's like you're there as well as fan you with wind just at the right spots. It's pretty well thought out. It was a great last ride to be on and do.
Then we headed back to the main street of Disneyland where Brooke and Shauna had found us a sweet spot right at the front to watch the parade. I was grateful to them for making our day simply perfect. We got some hot chocolates to share and wandered around a little.
One of the bummer things was that Emiko never got to meet any characters. She never met Minnie or Mickey or anyone. Oh well. She really wanted to as well.
Emiko and Lydia ended up falling asleep but when the parade started Emiko was wide eyed because the show was so amazing as you'll see below.
Here's the beginning of the parade.
Closer view of the beginning of the show.
The weird animals.
Alice in wonderland talking to us.
The caterpillar on the Alice in Wonderland parade.
Cinderella
Big Ben
Peterpan on the pirate ship with Captain hook. Pretty amazing man.
Tinkerbell and her fairies. Cute.
Snow white and her friends.
And lastly Pete's Dragon.
They had a tribute to America that came through lastly with soldier type dancers and an Eagle and flag all elaborately done. I didn't get a shot of that.
We hurried out and walked to the tram that takes you to the car park. We lined up and went to hop on the tram and a family cut in front of us so both Brooke and I said something but nothing was done.
We got onto the tram and figured we were done.
Well the lady kept going on and on, passive aggressively about the whole thing while Brooke and I could hear. I don't do well with passive aggressiveness man. Either get over it or say something to my face.
So I told myself to keep quiet and maybe she'd get over it. She said something else. I said to myself one more time then I was gonna let her have it.
She didn't relent, so I let her have it.
So the rest of the tram ride was filled me me, Brooke and this lady going at it on the Tram. It actually felt good to me. Maybe it'll help this lady to realize she should let things go man.
Myles thought it was the most exciting time he'd had in a while and Dru's mother was whole heartedly embarassed by the whole thing and thought we should've let it go.
I'm not cut from that thread man, if you're gonna complain about something then the consequence of your complaining is the possiblility of being confronted by someone. And it turns out, I'm always that someone. What can I say man, I'm just a feisty one. Brooke's a good person to have on your team as well. She doesn't back away from a good argument. So kudos to those of you who can yoga breathe your way through verbal abuse. I'm not there yet.
We put all our stuff in the car and all the kids fell asleep while I stared out the window and thought about the day and how wonderful it'd been. With how packed it was, we sure did well and with the help of Brooke, Josh and Grandma, they each made it that much more special for Emiko and I. I'll forever be grateful for their help in that.
I got a good sleep on the couch that night, I tell you what.
The next day we got all of our stuff together, had breakfast, had a shower, got dressed, hung out as the kids played and made our way to the airport.
We gave out hugs and kisses then headed onto the plane.
We had one plane change and a wait for an hour and a half in Sacramento.
Well Southwest decided to leave an hour late. I was planning on getting Emiko and I some lunch while we were waiting in Sacramento. No such luck.
We got a new passenger on our flight to Boise. Baemax.
We had to rush from one plane to the next and the next plane was waiting for us to get to them. That was nice of them. But what wasn't nice is that Emiko and I had great tickets for this next flight, but because we arrived super late, everyone had already seated themselves and there were no seats left beside each other for Emiko and I to sit together.
So the guy had to ask someone to move so we could be together. Again very nice, but again, their fault to begin with.
So we sat, together, at the very, very back of the plane.
I'm glad we didn't check any luggage on and just carried it on as our bags wouldn't have made it onto that second plane in time.
Nawang was there to pick us up and talk to us and drop us off home.
The kids had done their piano practice and I had to scramble up some dinner while Dru was gone with Masaru at rugby, then go to a mtb meeting at 7pm for Masaru where Dru and Masaru met us from rugby and the other kids were home alone!!!
No rest for mum that's for sure.
It takes a team effort right?
Straight back into mothering right from the start. I didn't even move my bags from the front door until the middle of the next day hahahahahaha
Lucky we'd just had an amazing time and I knew this was coming.
We're very lucky to have been shown such a great time from our family. I'm glad we went and it was magical for Emiko.
Would I go again? Probably not, unless it was free, then maybe I'd consider it around Christmas time, I think it'd be pretty cool around then. I'm glad we've all been once and I think that's enough. There's so many things for us to spend money on as a family and see around the world that I don't think I'd spend it on Disneyland again you know. Our family aren't really huge Disney freaks.
I'd like to take the kids to Hawaii or the Oregon Coast, back to Moab, Zion's national park, Washington D.C, stuff like that.
I'm so glad to have been though and very grateful. Great, great, trip and one to be remembered forever.

Disneyland - after lunch till dinner
Josh had to leave us after lunch and head home. It was sad to see him go, but I understand why he didn't spend the whole day with us. I'm grateful to him for his kindness and sad his wife couldn't have joined us.

After lunch we split up for a tiny bit and Audrey and I went to do Indiana Jones ride which we'd gotten a fast pass for. So we only had to wait 10 mins to get onto the ride. Lucky ducks right? No one else wanted to go on the ride due to Myles having a headache so Brooke stayed with him. Shauna stayed with the other girls and took them to Tarzan's jungle house and on the jungle ride you can go on. Emiko said she had a good time.
Audrey and I had a great time on the Indiana Jones ride. It's like you're on a jeep going through everywhere. I'm just really impressed with the detail of all of the decor and stuff. It's really something else.

Here are the kids underneath Tarzan's tree house.

We then headed over to another star wars ride. We had a fast pass for this one too and so waited about 5 mins. This one was super fast and dark and you didn't know where you were going half the time which means, for me, I could get whiplash!! So I held on tight and enjoyed the ride. Here's the picture of us. Look at Emiko's face man. She was loving it and yelling out at me as such. She wasn't even holding on. She must've been thrown around like a rag doll, yet look at her man, not a care in the world. I'm impressed Grandma went on the ride with us. It was pretty neat.

We then headed over to the little kids area where they sell the hats and have the classic rides. Emiko chose this hat and got her name on the back. Doesn't she look picture perfect? How cute is this Disneyland girl.

Then me and these two cuties went on the teacup ride. I didn't want to, but apparently kids can't go by themselves and I was it. Spinning around and around and around doesn't appeal to me, so I closed my eyes and listened to the girls enjoying themselves. Oh to be young again and not have spinning affect you in any way right?
We only had to line up for around 15 mins for this ride.

Here we are on the orange tea cup that Lydia had been eyeing the whole time we were lining up.

Then me and the cuzzies headed over to the merry -go -round while Auntie Brooke lined up in the Peter Pan line for us. We lined up in this line for around 20 mins. I'd love to have this just in our back yard. All the kids were eyeing up the horse they wanted then made a break for it once they opened the gates. They all got the horse they wanted.

Here's Emiko on her one.
This video may just be too cute for you to handle watching it. So you've been warned.

Then we poped over to Brooke who was saving our spaces and waited in line for another 25 mins to get onto the PeterPan ride. What a cute ride. You sit on a boat and sail away and look around at all the things that the Peter Pan story has to offer. It was really a cute ride. I'm glad Brooke waited in line for us.

We then headed to the shops to see if we wanted anything. I looked around and didn't really see anything I liked until I saw these tinkerbell earrings. I knew I'd wear these outside of disneyland so purchased them. They're two pieces and are pretty cute I think.

Emiko chose baemax from Big Hero 6 and she loves it. I'm glad she got what she wanted. She had birthday money, so this is what she spent it on.
We then decided to get some dinner. Shauna's shout again. Yummy food. The kids were hungry. It was just starting to get cooler and a little darker as well.

Disneyland, the morning.
We got up at 6am to be ready and leave by 7am and get to the park by 8am. It was a success and that's exactly what happened.
So guess what man...............last weekend when we were hanging out with family we were talking to Dru's cousin Josh and his wife. So Josh works for Disney and he met us at Disneyland and got us into Disneyland for FREE!!!!!! Can you believe it!!!!
So Shauna was going to pay for her and Emiko and I would've paid for myself, but because of Josh meeting us and hanging out with us he saved us a little under $500. I think it's around $160 per person to get into both parks. I mean how awesome is that!?!
So we spent points on the flights, stayed with Brooke for free and then got into Disneyland for free. Talk about cheapest trip EVER!!!! So awesome. Makes the trip that much sweeter.
We took the tram from the carpark to the gates and met Josh then headed into the park. We made a game plan and set off. I'm glad we were with Brooke and Josh cause those two knew the park like it was a second home. What a gift for Emiko and I.

Here we are on our very first ride. We lined up for maybe 8 mins and got our glasses for this Starwars ride. You get into this pretend ship and put these glasses on which makes you think you're actually riding in the ship with C3PO at the front. He was real by the way and totally looked legit. The ride moves you around so it feels like you're on the ship. Emiko had a blast and loved it and so did I.
Turns out Emiko is a daredevil which is great. She wanted all the rides to be fast and wonderful.

Our next ride was the toy story ride where you get a lazer gun and have to point to the targets and earn points to see what level you are. I got a level 3 and Emiko got a level 2. It was fun, but because I was concentrating on the targets so much I didn't get a chance to look at all the awesomeness hahahaha. Oh well. It was a good ride. We only waited around 10 mins for that ride as well.

We then needed a picture infront of the castle right? Later on in the afternoon we went into the castle and read the sleeping beauty book and looked in the windows at the display of the story. It was really cute.

Brooke made the kids their very own Disney t-shirts to celebrate the day. Really nice right? They each had their names on them in Disney font. So cute.

Here we are waiting for a train ride. I forget the name of it but we probably waited for around 15 mins to get on.

Here Emiko is about to hit the ride.

I got a picture of everyone that was with us. There's Josh, Brooke, Shauna and the cuzzies all ready to ride.
The train ride was fast and fun and lots to look at. I think Emiko would've been happy to just ride this ride again and again for the rest of the day. She was having a blast already.

Here is a poster of what the Disneyland Star Wars land will look like when it's completed in a couple of years. Pretty exciting, I'm sure, for all Star Wars fans. If any of the rides we went on are a glimpse, we're in for a treat when it opens. It should be magical.

Then we decided to go to Pirates of the caribbean ride. I think we waited around 20 mins to get onto this ride. Here are the cuzzies just hanging out and waiting. Emiko was getting impatient for the ride and I was trying to tell her that she was lucky she wasn't waiting longer!! That didn't help I don't think.

Here we are on the ride.
It was so impressive. Just all of the characters and how they moved was so amazing. They did a great job. Emiko wished it went faster though hahahaha. I told her to relax and enjoy the ride and look at all the neat things.

We then decided to line up for the Haunted House. We waited around 25 mins to get into this ride. Emiko didn't really like this one. She told me it was a little too scary for her. At the end of the ride you look into a mirror and there's a ghost that sits with you in the car that you can see. He happened to have a beard and so we pretended to stroke his beard. I'm glad she didn't freak out.
We then decided that it was a good time to stop for some lunch. Josh had a coupon for 30% off our food so that was a wonderful bonus. Shauna decided to shout us lunch, which was wonderful as well. So lucky right? The food was really nice and these guys in the video decided to play for us. It was so lovely to sit and eat and talk together. Disneyland is truly a neat place.
There were a TON of people there though which sucked. But I guess we have to share the park with people so might as well not gripe about it.

Disneyland trip day one and two
Saturday

So we'd been planning this trip for a couple of months and the time had arrived.
Dru's mother, Shauna, likes to try to take the grandkids to Disneyland. She'd taking my older three a couple of years ago and as Dru and I were talking about what to get Emiko for her birthday, we decided that a Disneyland trip was in order and set it up with Shauna and Dru's sister, Brooke since Brooke lives in LA and we'd be staying at her place.
Brooke has season passes and her kids had Monday off so we planned on going to Disneyland that day with them.
We jumped on the plane on Saturday lunch time and took off to LA. We had one stop but no plane change and I had to explain that to Emiko so she wasn't disappointed when we landed and it wasn't time to get off.

She did so well on the plane. I was impressed. Her ears were sore on the landings and I was kicking myself for not bringing chewing gum. I asked the southwest employers for a candy and she just looked at me and told me there was nothing she could do. Southwest at their finest people. Honeslty that airline sucks, but what do you do. 8 people outt've 10 are hopeless.
We landed in LA though to Brooke meeting us. We brought our pram Brooke had lent us for disneyland. Turns out Brooke wanted to keep it so I'm glad we brought it. I was impressed we still had it and was glad we could give it back to her.

It takes about an hour to get back to her place so we sat and talked after we picked up Shauna as well. Dru had booked the flights so that we landed around the same time. All the flights were on points from our card. So that's nice right?
We got home and unpacked and got ourselves situated and then Emiko started playing with her cuzzies and their neighbourhood mates. It was nice. She pretended to be shy for 2 seconds but then had a blast.
I sat and talked to Brooke and Shauna and we helped with dinner.
Dinner was amazing and I was hungry.

We then headed out for the night and went to the movie Beauty and the Beast. It was really lovely. I liked the cartoon just as much, but the real life movie was good too. I liked the characters they chose. A couple of new songs as well. The kids seemed to like it as well. Emiko was fluffing around though and seemed to be scared, then bored, then tired, then bored, then unsettled. I think she may have been a little young for it? I dunno.
We got hooked up with popcorn and treats at the dollar store beforehand and were pretty happy. What a great night.
We came home and the kids all slept in the same room together and had a blast.
I shared a room with Shauna but then we quickly found out that the mattress didn't work so I stayed on the couch which was very comfortable and perfectly fine. I had good sleeps on it.
We stayed up late and talked anyway. It's nice to be with family.
Sunday
Sunday we got up and got ready for 9am church. That's always suckie man but I was impressed that we did it and got there before church started even. First time for me. Dru would've been impressed.
Church was good. It was the first time I'd been to Relief Society for about 5 years. It was pretty good. We talked about being a daughter of God. I liked it.
We came home and relaxed for the rest of the day and talked, napped and Brooke and I looked up cute material for quilts. It was fun.

The kids messed around an played.

They got along really well.

Look at that face.

Cute.

Super cute.

We had breakfast for dinner which was nice and then sat up and talked for a while.
Shauna went to bed at 7:30pm to get ready for Disneyland.
We went to bed more like 10pm. For some reason I can't go to bed at 7:30pm even though that may be good for my body. Oh well.
So we'd been planning this trip for a couple of months and the time had arrived.

Oh well.
Masaru's 6th grade performance
So Masaru's 6th grade put on a musical performance for everyone the other week. It was pretty good. They did one at 10am and one at 2pm which is smart I reckon. Dru couldn't make it to the 2pm so went to the 10am. I couldn't make it to the 10am so went to the 2pm. So Masaru had someone there both times. Lucky duck.
Ther performance was about the 1900's from 1900 to 1999. It was really interesting and very well done. They did each decade and had a song from that era as well as someone talk about what was going on back then. It was great.
Masaru decided to dress like the 1960's as a hippie and it suited him very well don't you think?
His first performance was a surfing song.
He seems to be enjoying himself right? Crack up.
Then his next performance was the Locomotion. Check out his sweet moves. Hahahahaha
He had a speaking piece to do, which I was impressed with as he has his speech problem and he mumbles. He did well.
Then lastly he did the Macarena performance and that was so funny I couldn't stop laughing. Check out his sweet moves man. This kid cracks me up man. Love it and him.
I'm glad I went. He didn't perform till the end, so Emiko and I needed a quick break and a drink for a bit. I was nodding off asleep.
Job well done though.
