Adventures with mates

Jobecka doesn’t muck around and the dust had barely settled on the summer break beginning and she’s offering up adventures to the kiddos. Takeshi and Yuki decided to go with her on the hike Natalie and I went on a couple of weeks prior. It’s straight up for two miles. So around 2000 feet vert. I was surprised that they wanted to do it but happy with both of them. Jobecka took some pics.

Hey

Sarah came over to play and Takeshi had just gotten back from an all day Cub Scout camp. He brought these mustaches and shared them for the picture. Classic.

This is them when they reached the top. It's such a beautiful view and I'm so happy they did it. Yuki said that it was so beautiful, but she'd never do it again and now Takeshi wants to climb the 4 peaks of Idaho with Jobecka. So that's good.
We also went on an adventure with the Bleazard's and hiked up 5 mile with the kids. We got an ice cream afterwards just to keep things sweet, kind've like this picture of Emiko and her buddy Bryan.

Sorry the pic's are messed up but I'm not winning in the phone/computer area. Things are kind've dying on my so it's all I can do to get pictures onto the blog and have it recorded. This is Takeshi and Hank coming down the hike. They got it sorted alright.
On the next Saturday I took the kids out to Teresa's house for Masaru to work on their house, then the kids were going to go climbing at the gym with her kids, then Masaru went for a mtb ride with Jason and went on a new trail. He totally burned his calf muscle coming down though. He'd crashed and was trying to fix his bike and then leaned on the break and got burned. I'll try to get the pic. It's pretty awesome.
Here's the other kids doing a scavenger hunt. Yuki was over it and wanted me to pick her up. Dru had run a 5k and I picked him up and we were boring and did cleaning and shop/yard work while the kids were gone. Talk about lame man. We should've partied while they were gone. We never get time alone these days.
And there it is people. See the pattern? Pretty crazy. Masaru said it hurt for a bit. He enjoyed riding with Jason and wants to ride with him again.

Emiko and Bryan enjoying being crazy together.
Hand and Takeshi. I don't think Takeshi is this much taller than Hank. So beautiful right?
All the kids hanging out up 5 mile. We were told by a worker up there that we'd just missed a snake. So that was good news.
How cute are these two right?
It's been nice to be outside with mates and to not have the same kind of demands put on us as a family and just have a little time out. I appreciate summer for that. It's been really nice.

Memorial weekend

Friday was the last Day of school and the kids came home sad that it was all over as well as really excited.
Yuki said she had never cried at the end of the school year before but did and this class with Mr. Herron. She said he spent a moment telling the kids how much he loves them and everyone was sad and started to cry.
They had the yearbook and got some signature from the maids and came home and talked about it.
Masaru came home with all his buddies and they decided to do a fire and burn all of their schoolwork.

Here they are being typical teens. I’m surprised they didn’t hurt themselves to be honest.

We didn’t really do too much that night I think all of us were pretty exhausted and we ended up just watching movies and hanging out and being pretty lazy.

Saturday we just did a typical Saturday and we tidied the house and did our chores and worked on stuff and had another pretty lazy day watching movies and hanging out once we were finished cleaning.

Sunday was pretty typical as well just attending church and a couple of the kids Mate came over and played after church and our gospel study.

Monday we decided to go to Eagle bike Park and go mountain biking together as a family which was fun. Here are some videos and pictures of what we did.
Love these pics of the kids

Here’s some videos.
I totally forgot my shoes. I was so sad.

Emiko did great though. We did junkyard with her and she rocked it. She didn't wanna do it again though hahaha. She's lazy just like her mother, at heart. Here's Emiko working it on the pumptrack though. She loved it man and did a great job. Then there was this man who decided to pull his kid around on the pump track. Pretty funny man. Then here's Takeshi working it. Masaru working it. Yuki working it. And just for good measure another one of Emiko.
We then got something to eat on the way home and hung out as a family.
It was a nice way to spend the weekend. We were all pretty exhausted so it was nice to be able to just chill for most of it. Plus the weather was pretty cold and rainy and so we couldn't do a ton anyway.

Cute thank you notes

Part of working in the school is getting cute notes at the end of the year. Here's a little cute book the kids in Emiko's class did for me to say thanks for being their art teacher.
I enjoyed my first year of Emiko being in school full time, but couldn't find the right balance to do it all. So I need to figure out how to let go of some good things to replace it with things that'll make me a better person for all.

Cute right? Love it.

Sole kids 5k Spring race

So the three younger kids had signed up for solekids for the spring season. I stepped back as coach and just helped out where I could.
I was there for all but one adventure run, cause they need the help with the slow kids and I tend to do pretty well with them cause I feel their pain when it comes to having to run.
It was nice not to be the head coach, way nicer and a lot better for me. It was still busy but better than full coach.
Plus Remi and Casey did an amazing job as head coaches, especially Remi, he was so organized and detailed. He's quiet with the kids but he did a lot of hard work in the background to do with the kids.
Yuki was in track and so only went to half the practices and she wasn't really into it this season.
She complained a lot and so I dunno what was up with that.
The race was out in Eagle and it was a nightmare to get out there. So that sucked. And we had to be out there right at peak traffic time, also a bonus.
Oh AND to top it off it rained the ENTIRE TIME. So there's that too.
It's wasn't the kids finest races.
Takeshi got a raging headache and threw up all night after the race.
Yuki lost her first race ever by 6 seconds. So that face that you see above about sums up her feelings about it all.
So two out of the three kids finished the race crying. So that was great.
Takeshi got second in his grade so he was happy about that, and so here's his happy face until his throw up face came later on.
Thank goodness for Caleb, who missed gymnastics to be Yuki's sponsor, and ran with her the whole way and cheered her up afterwards. He's such a good friend to her. We love him.
We went and got dinner afterwards and all licked our wounds except for Emiko who had Harper as her sponsor and was happy to just be there and running. She was the only one who didn't get wounded by this 5k this season.
Yuki says she doesn't wanna do solekids again, so we'll put a pin in that one, but the other two kids say that they'll do it again. So we'll see.
