Emiko wrote her first book (I think) and it's the cutest.
"This is a fox. I love foxes.
This is a wolf. I love Wolves.
"This is a horse. I love horses"
"This is a Red Panda. I love Red Pandas"
So good right? She wanted to give it to her mate Henery. So hopefully he likes it and see what's a big deal it is. Probably not. Oh well.
So Christmas is here and that means the tree is up and the decorations are on and we're in full blown Christmas cheer mode and I love it.
Here's Yuki making sure she gets to put the star on the top.
Takeshi was upset she was doing it, but Yuki called it, so did it.
Dru put the lights on first though. That's the first thing that has to happen before anything. I'm glad he took time out from the shop to do that for us.
Here's our tree is full swing.
We supported our local tree peeps this year and went to a tree lot instead of cutting down our own one and/or going to a big store to shop for one.
The tree lot smelled so good and me, Yuki and Emiko wandered around trying to find the perfect tree for the perfect price. We finally found this one and snagged it up.
Dru was too busy with the shop to take us tree hunting this year. Maybe next year.
We love this tree though and brought it home and it's created such a wonderful atmosphere of Christmas. Our house smells so good as well. So that's nice.
We have so many random decorations and I love it. It's so us man. There's stuff from everywhere and anywhere.
I'm trying to collect decorations from destinations that we visit as well.
Here's what our house looks like.
There's more stuff downstairs and a little on the doors going to the backyard.
We don't have much but what we have, I love and I love our house with everything in it.
Christmas makes me happy. I'm glad it's December.
My mate Amy went to NZ with her hubby Stephen and I gave them all the help I could with their trip.
I had a talk to her last week and she LOVES NZ and had the best time. She said I must really love Dru to leave this place. Very true. I loved that she loved it so much and am really happy they had such a wonderful time you know.
I love Amy and am super pumped for her. She said they're already planning on going back. So that's great. It was their 20 year anniversary and what a way to spend it right?
Anyway I get home one day and there's a package waiting for me filled with all of these things she got for me. I cried.
So thoughtful and so wonderful. I'll be knitting some great things with that wool that's for sure. I've got something in mind I'll knit for Amy. It was awesome to get some rocks from the coast of NZ as well and a bag from Dunedin where I was born.
Good mate right? Love her.
Then I finished Takeshi's class art auction piece. I'm glad it's all done and dusted and the three classes are all done. I think it turned out just like it was suppose to and I'm happy with it. I hope it sells ok.
The sixth grade teacher, Masaru's old one, was saying she had no one to help her class this year. So just when I thought I was done, I volunteered myself to help her class.
I'll have to put up on here what we decide to do. I'm going in next week to get it done. It should be simple enough and cute. Hopefully it'll sell as well. We'll see. All four will be quite different from each other. I'll be interested to see which one sells for the most.
I love being the kids art teacher and am glad I'm able to do it.
On Saturday Dru gathered some friends and his father came up, and we got the trusses done on the shop. It started off slow but in the end went quick and well.
Dru's pumped he got them done and thanked Heavenly Father that the weather turned out perfect for him to be able to do it.
He prayed all week that the weather would cooperate for him to get them done.
It's funny you know, it was raining all day Friday except for a window of dry weather at night when he got home from work. This helped him to prep the roof and shop for the next day. Once he'd done it started raining again.
Then on Saturday it was suppose to snow but it remained dry until the last truss was put up and then it slowly started raining a little while they buttoned it all up.
Then it snowed the rest of the day and he worked doing some stuff in the snow with pzipp.
The next morning we woke up to around 4inches of snow on the ground.
So he couldn't do anymore work, but he knew he was pushing his luck and was grateful for the small miracle he'd asked for.
The weather this week is suppose to be pretty good so he'll work on sheeting the roof and getting the tar paper on and getting the garage doors on and wrapping it up for the winter.
It'll be nice to have Dru around for a couple of months until we start up again.
Here's the kids playing in the snow after church on Sunday.
Masaru went to a sledding hill with his mates for a few hours. They had fun. It was a good opportunity to see what the kids need as far as snow clothes go as well.
It's nice having such a huge yard so they have so much snow to play in and make the biggest snowman ever.
So we've been having some fun this season and trying to also remember Christ.
We've got some plans to make it a Christ centered Christmas season.
More on that to come.
