Memory #11

Memorable childhood birthday

I know for most people it'd be a wonderful birthday full of presents, cake and friends, but the most memorable birthday I have is my 15th birthday.
It was horrible.
It was my fault too. I guess the day had been alright, nothing special and mum was making me a cake. I'm guessing we didn't have too much money and I don't know why but I looked at the cake and said something like "Is that it?"
Mum threw the pebbles (like m&m's) she was decorating the cake with and stormed out.
I didn't get a birthday celebration that day.
It was horrible.
But if I was my mother, I would've done the same thing. I felt so sorry for myself, but I deserved it. We were so poor and mum was making an effort for me with the little she had and I come in and act like a spoilt brat.
That the most memorable I guess.
But I need to write about positive stuff too.
Like EVERY OTHER BIRTHDAY I had.
I LOVED my 11th cause I got my ears pierced and those two records, Beat it and Thriller, oh yeah and Milli Vanilli, so three.
I LOVED my 8th cause I was baptized and had a sleep over with my mates and a HUGE celebration. It was AWESOME.
I LOVED my 21st cause we had it at the chapel and I had a HUGE turn out and my bro DJ'd and we danced and a sister in my church made me an AWESOME cake. It was quite the party, and then I went on my mission.
Then there was my 26th birthday where Dru threw a surprise birthday party for me with all his mates and my brother.
It was funny cause I was so mad at Dru cause I didn't think he was making enough of an effort, then he wanted to go to his mates place.
He said "Just come inside, he wants to say hi" I said "No"
But I went in and SURPRISE!!! My very first and probably my last surprise party.
Then there was my 25th birthday where Dru said "Pack your bags we're outta here"
And I did and jumped in the car and then UNDER THE SEAT were tickets to Seinfeld in Vegas. Man, now that was fun.
My 30th was good too.

So, overall birthdays have been a good thing.

Nails

So for the first time Yuki and I decided to paint her nails. She was so excited. It was really cute.
We did purple on her toes.
And pink on her hands. She thinks they look beautiful and so do I. It's just this cheap stuff though that's been sitting around for years. I'm surprised it's still ok.
Masaru was really excited about the painted nails as well. I think if I asked him he MIGHT'VE let me paint his nails as well.
But I wouldn't do that to his father.

NZ Temple cake

We got the rice crispy idea from the 'Cake Boss'. It's the only way we could think of getting the front to stand up nice and straight.
Dru said "I have to get a pic of you doing it other wise your family won't believe us that we made it ourselves.
They had the hardest time believing we did that Sponge Bob cake.
They still might not believe us. I dunno.
The finished result.

Jodz liked it and that's what counts. We needed more time on it. We had these plans to make it look better but ran out of fondant. Oh well.
It turned out alright.
It's no Sponge Bob.

#2

That's right folks I'm on my second cold sore in a month!!
Remember................I used to get them about once in 2/3 years. Now I'm getting them twice in a month.
Over worked and underpaid maybe?
I think so.
I'm taking my multivitamins and drinking, eating well and exercising.
The only thing I"m not getting is sleep.
So maybe that's it. How come this never happened with the other kids though?
Oh yeah that's right CAUSE NOW I HAVE THREE.

Candy?

So the other day I did Yuki's hair in two french plaits for the first time. This was really hard for her so I had to pull out the big guns.
She started getting antsy by the bottom of the first one and I coaxed her into staying put until it was finished by just saying "Almost done sweetie, almost done"
Then I informed her there was a second one and she wasn't too pleased. So I had to do it. I told her I'd give her candy.
Then she goes "Awight mummy" and let me do it. After I had put all the accessories in she goes "Candy mum?" And I gave her one for each hand. I think a couple of cavities are worth a great hair do LOL
Look at me holding her in this last picture. You can almost hear me can't you?
"Yuki, hold still, no turn around, let me take a picture, hold still!!!!"

Slickster

So this is how Masaru wanted to look for his first day of pre-school. This had nothing to do with me. He's been asking me since being back in Moscow "When am I going to go to school mum?"
It got pretty old quick so I circled the day and told him that's the day and he's not going before then. It helped a little.
But the morning came and I said "What do you wanna wear?" He told me his NZ trackie with his NZ t-shirt. Now I know you're all thinking I put him up to this, but I didn't. This is what he wanted to wear.
And if you all know me you would also know that I didn't put into his head to wear his hair like this either.

This is how he wanted to wear it. All slicked back and down. He messed it up slightly while we were waiting and was stressing out about it. Who is this kid? No one in this house has ever stressed out about hair before.
But this is how he wanted to look and I think it's great.
He had a great first week of school and his teacher said he's obedient and shares well (what!! has she seen him interact with Yuki?)
and is a pleasure to have around.
Awwwwwwwwww so nice.
Now I have to figure out dropping him off and picking him up with three kids. I think I'm getting it under control though with the help of others.

Yuki's birthday

We had it Sunday the 20th, so on the actual day of her birthday, and had a little dinner first. It was pizza and chips and a vege tray. All bought foods, nothing made, hey man we were working on the cake!! Dinner couldn't be a big deal either. It's either one or the other man LOL
She knew that day was for her. We were talking about it for a few days beforehand. If you ask her hold old she is she'll put up her two fingers, or try to, and tell you "Two, mummy, two"
It's pretty cute. After you tell her it's her birthday she'll say "Presents? Cake? Candy?"
She knows the drill.

We, obviously, got her girlie things. Come on man look at her, so cute, with the gloves, and the wings and the necklaces. Love it. Things all girls should have I reckon. Mind you I never got wings and I turned out alright. Ok that last statement might be questionable.
She got some wonderful presents from Dru's family, friends, and her Grandma's. She's very lucky to have so many people care about her and her special day. She loved ALL OF THEM, her face and reaction to all of them were awesome. Like I said, she knows the drill.

We got her her very own truck. Why doesn't Tonka make girls trucks? I mean there's Barbie and some other random vehicles but you have to buy these little people to go in them and I'm not interested in buying the whole set I just want a truck a simple truck she can push around and chase Masaru with. Turns out they're hard to find. Well and when you've only got Walmart and Ross.
Loves her candy.
Masaru actually played with the truck more than Yuki. It was all I could do to stop Masaru and some of the other kids from opening her presents. Poor thing, she only barely got to open her own presents. Part of being the second child I guess. For Takeshi's first birthday I'm going to have to ask for special people to hold Masaru and Yuki while he opens them, otherwise he won't have a chance!!
We kept having to tell Masaru "It's not yours, give it back"
It's been great though, Yuki having her own truck. Masaru will let her play with ANYTHING of his just to play with it. It's wonderful. Great idea I think. She does love the truck too.
After dinner we headed outside with some more friends to sing her happy birthday and blow out the candles and eat the cake. I thought it was a great idea to put the candles in his hands.
Here I am telling her we're gonna sing to her.
Here she is acting all shy as we're singing to her.

She tried blowing the candles out but just couldn't get it. LOL
I think Masaru ended up helping of course.

Then we had to pull her around to the other side to attempt to blow out the other candle, which I think Masaru ended up blowing out as well.
Oh well. Maybe for her third birthday she'll be more successful.
Yuki we love you with all our hearts.
You might be drama, but we love you so much, and putting up with your drama is totally worth it.
These last two years with you have been wonderful and Masaru's loved having a friend to play with.
We love your nature, how fun you are, your beautiful smile that can melt our hearts daily, your love of cow and hippo, your sense of humour and the cute things you say and how much your are learning daily.
I love being home with you so I can see it all. What a special blessing for me. I'm grateful for it.
You have a special place in our hearts, especially dad's.
Happy birthday poo poo's.
