Yukis first loss

Yuki lost her tooth about 5 mins ago.  Dru said "Let's get the pliers"  Yuki started crying. Masaru said "It won't hurt. All you'll taste is blood". This didn't help with the crying. Then Dru got the pliers and Masaru got a paper towel for the blood and Dru pulled it out second go.
I was on skype with my brother Delwyn and we all celebrated and took a zombie picture and then one of the tooth.
Hopefully she gets a visit from the tooth fairy tonight ;)

Big news on the home front

So two HUGE things happened on the 28th of December.
First of all my brother and his wife had this beautiful and perfect little girl.  SO CUTE.  Her name is Arianwyn  Hana-O-Te-Rangi Wright.
Arianwyn is a beautiful Welsh name and means pure. Hana-O-Te-Rangi is Maori and means brightness of the Heavens.
So cute man.  Mum and baby are doing great and are home and fighting the good fight of feedings, poopings and getting no sleepings LOL.  I love skype.  My brother was talking to me throughout the labouring and birth.  It was good to be a part of and we're so happy for these guys and can't wait to see Ari grow up and develop.
AT THE SAME TIME that Ari was being born................my two nieces were being BORN AGAIN to Christ via baptism.  We're so proud of these two and the decision they made to be baptized together.  My brother baptized them and then their Grandpa confirmed them and gave them the gift of the Holy Ghost.  What a beautiful thing to be a part of.
They'd listened to the missionaries and my sister and her husband supported their decision and had the best day celebrating.
Such beautiful girls and it makes me sad we couldn't be there.  It was just family and so it was really neat.

So BIG NEWS on the WRIGHT side of the family and I needed to document it so it'll always be remembered.

Shogatsu

I slept in.  It was awesome!!  After getting up at 5:15am for a few months, sleeping in feels good once and a while.  This morning was once and a while for me.
The kids had been fed and were hanging out together.  This is a great shot of them together on the longboard their cuzzie got for Christmas.
I stayed in my PJ's the whole day and embraced it.  It was really nice.  I didn't work out this day either, so it was a really lazy day.
I hung out and talked and then slowly packed up to head back to Dru's mother's house for our EARLY celebration of Japanese new year...................shogatsu, which has turned into a great tradition.
I got zero shots of it *sigh* oh well.
Great food and good company.  I LOVE the japanese food they make.  So yummy man.
We then hung out and stayed up and talked as a family.
Great day.

Saturday I worked out and tried to pack as much as I could.
We said goodbye to Dru's sister from CA and her family headed out for their 12 hour car ride back home.  Poor things.  They made great time though and were home safely after 12 hours.
I had a massage!  First one in around 9 years!!  I was a little nervous but shouldn't have been.
IT WAS AWESOME.  I loved it.
I was worried my muscles were going to be so knotted and tight due to all the working out I've been doing you know so I asked her how they felt and she replied that my muscles felt GREAT.  No knots and whatever I was doing to keep doing it cause they felt really good and healthy.  She even told me that I had no flab!!  I know that's not true, but it was nice to hear, none the less.  So it's good to know that my muscles are doing great.  She said I had a little tension in my shoulders, but ALL women did and it wasn't much at all.
I couldn't believe it, but I'm relieved and happy.
I hung out with the kids and relaxed for a lot of the day.
We had left overs for dinner which was nice and stress free.  I fell asleep on the couch for a short nap and the children watched Cinderella until they went to bed.
Dru worked on his projects he was doing and then we hung out for a while and went to bed.

Sunday Dru told me I could go to church on my own and he'd start packing up.  So nice of him.  I went and caught up with old friends.  It was nice.
We packed, cleaned, ate and then headed home.
The week was nice and I'm glad we were there.  It was fun.
Now back to reality..........I went to bootcamp this morning and got my butt kicked and it felt great, I need to un-pack, do wash, tidy, shop and figure out how to not stress out!!
I'm just gonna leave my Christmas stuff up till the new year I've decided.  Dru will be home new years day, so we can tackle it together!!

Boxing Day

I decided to go out to Dru's sisters place for the night to give Dru's mother a rest from the chaos.
Dru stayed to work from home and work on some other projects he'd needed to do.
Kristin's place is easy going and I like it.  My kids get along with her kids as well so it's the perfect setting.
The kids went out to sled and stayed out there for a couple of hours which was great.
I stayed in and crocheted a headband for my girlfriend I was going to visit that night while Kristin crocheted a cowl for herself.
It was warm, relaxing, and therapeutic.  By the time I had finished the headband I needed a bootcamp work out to throw out all my aggression.  I had the hardest time doing the stupid flower.  I haven't crocheted in a while, I guess when you hide your talent in the ground it comes back to bite you!!
I should start looking at easy projects to do again to keep my talent alive!
We had dinner and the kids bathed and watched a movie together.  It was awesome.
After the put the smaller kids in bed I went and visited my mate Evette who lives close.  It was late and her husband was sick but we sat and talked while she did a puzzle.
Puzzles stress me out.  I have zero patience for them or any interest, yet for Evette they're therapeutic and de-stressing.  So each to their own right?
It was great to hang out.
By the time I got home I thought everyone would be in bed...............not so.
Kristin was determined to get the cowl EXACTLY how she envisioned it and so was still up fighting it LOL
Chris was reading, not sure what Tess and Luke were doing, but it was a big party!!
My family wanted to talk to me as well!!!
Exciting stuff.
We talked for a while and then I finally went to sleep downstairs with Takeshi and Emiko.  Yuki and Masaru slept with their cuzzies, which was fine by me.

Christmas Day

This is a blanket I knitted Dru's mother.
I started it in February and finished it in December.  It was super easy, just tedious and so I started and stopped and started and stopped a lot.
In hindsight I should've made it bigger but it is what it is and it covers one person nicely.
Eventually I'd like to make myself one.............................but who knows when that'll happen.
She like it, so that's great.
The kids ran in at 5:38am.  I remember looking at the clock when Masaru asked if they could open presents yet.
I could've told them to get back to bed but what use would've that done?  They were all up, excited and ready, so Dru and I sucked it up, got up and the fun began.
They got 2 things from Santa.  Takeshi wanted a stuffie.  Easy to please.
He has the best reactions to opening gifts.  So it makes it fun to watch.

Yuki wanted a stuffie as well, which she got and we also suprized her with a Totoro blanket, which she's barely put down since.  So cute man.
She also got some legos which she's loving.  I'm happy for her.

Masaru also wanted a stuffie from Santa and then he also got a sleeping bag.  He loves it.
He had his lego set made up in a matter of minutes and has played with it daily since.  Easy to please man and that's what I love about my kids.
Emiko had to take some convincing to open her gifts.  Next year may be different, who knows.  But she got a couple of things.  She seemed happy to eat her candy out of her stocking and play with her toys she received.
Dru and I were grateful to watch our kids and be with them that morning.  We love it.
Dru got something for his car and some odds and ends, cufflinks, robe, t-shirt etc
I got some really cozy bed sheets and something for my kitchen which I love and a NZ flag door mat.  So if you come and visit you can wipe your feet on the NZ flag.....................................is Dru sending me a message with that gift?  LOL
Anyway the kids played with their toys and we hung out with the cuzzies.
We had a fabulous breakfast put on by Dru's mother and his brother's family.  Such great food.
We then had some quite time for the afternoon.  It was actually really nice for me.
Dru went and worked on his snowmobile with his brother and the 3 older kids went over as well while I stayed home with Emiko and relaxed in silence.  It was really nice.
I managed to talk to most of my family via skype over the last two days and so that was great as well.
We had a fantastic dinner of ham and potatoes.  It was so yummy.
We all gathered together and the children did a talent show for the adults.  Yes that's Masaru still in his PJ's.  How else is Christmas to be spent people?
Everyone did a great job.  We have very talented children if I do say so myself.  Here Masaru is doing his performance.  He's doing so well with his piano and I'm proud of him.  He did two numbers, Hark the Herald Angels sing and Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.
Then we hung out as a family all night. It was really nice.
I enjoyed Christmas Day this year and am grateful for family.

Christmas Eve

We had the traditional Christmas Eve show that night with all the grand kids. Look how cute they all are.
They all did a great job while we focused on the Saviour and His birth.
We sung hymns, watched and listened while the story was being told.
It was nice.

How cute is this girl?
We then headed downstairs where we opened gifts from grandma and our assigned families for that year.
It was awesome.
Both Dru and I got cycling things from his brother and sister in law.  I can't wait to use it.

Emiko was so excited for her toy.  Look how awesome that is.
Takeshi was loving his gifts as well.
Yuki was spoiled as well.
Masaru was really happy with his gifts.

Afterwards some went to the temple square lights. Dru and I took Emiko and stocking shopped instead while the older three went with grandma and grandpa.

Gingerbread sleighs

So the children did their gingerbread sleighs with Grandma this year.  I was taking a shower so missed out on the whole thing.  But the kids love it and here are the results.
Thanks Grandma, you're the best.

Market Street

So we went to the Market Street grill tonight as a family. We do this every year and I love it. Good food and great company and Drus parents pay!!  Perfect night.
Here's a panoramic shot.
One end of the table.
The other end.
It's been good so far here in Utah. The kids are living the dream with their cuzzies and the adults have been enjoying each other's company.
I'm excited for tomorrow and the next day. I love Christmas so much and am happy and grateful.

For the Journal

I've been doing 12 days of Christmas to my family on face book.  It's been awesome.  I've had some nice things said back to me and I need to put them in my journal so I have them somewhere safe.
Here's what my brother Llewellyn said today:

Ok, so I thought that since Emjaynagoya is doing the marathon 12 days of being grateful for people, I might do one of my own. So this is the 12 awesomest things that my sister is to me.....
1. Your awesome cause you lead the way for me in going to church college. And even though it was tough for you, you found the good in it and found the genuine people there who helped me out when I got there. And you know even though it was hard, it taught us so much.
2. Your awesome for deciding to serve a mission. I know that you were mad keen to get married, but when I found out that you were off to Aussie on your mission it made me proud that you put The Lord first and were an example to me and others. (This leads onto number 3)
3. Your awesome cause you have always been a rock in choosing the right. I think that I have always admired you cause you have always done so well in keeping the commandments. It's been an inspiration when I have struggled, how dedicated and righteous you have always been. I'm sure The Lord has blessed you with abundance because of this.
4. You are such an awesome mother. I have been around you enough to see your handy work when it comes to raising your children. When I first Went to the states a few years back, I was amazed at how good a mother you had become. When I got back to NZ, I told many people how impressed I was with the way you are firm but loving with your kids. (Leads to number 5)
5. Your awesome cause you have the cutest and funniest kids. I don't know how many good memories I have of loving, laughing and getting up to mischief with your kids. I think that one of the reasons they are so cool is because they take after there mum so much. I love those guys!!
6. Your awesome cause you have morphed into a great cook and baker. Maaaate, from rock scones with plasters in them, to biscuits that taste like ham.... You have come such a long way. One of the highlights of coming to the states is to have you cook for me. Even if your kids don't like it, I love it, and that makes more for me!!
7. Your awesome cause you are straight up. Man, what an undervalued attribute this is these days. It's so refreshing that I find out how you really feel about me and things, straight from you!! If your mad, you tell me. If I need to pull my head in, you tell me. When you love me, you tell me. I love this about you.... But sometimes I'm glad I'm not the family photographer that gets a mouthful from you! You remember that bae! Lol
8. Your awesome cause you are always there for me. You were the sibling who was always there for me when I was going through my darkest days. Never had I needed support so much then that time, and you were alway there to pick me up off the ground and tell me to keep on going. You were my life saver through that time. I will never forget that milz! Big love.
9. Your awesome cause your the family glue. I guess I didn't notice it so much until he was gone, but Dad was the glue for us as a family. Now I think you are that for us. Even though you are on the other side of the planet you always keep in touch with us all and make a big effort to be part of our lives. You are really good at those family calendars and cards and photos of your family.
10. Your awesome because of the charity you show to others. When I was in the state last and you gave to that guy who was asking for money, it wasn't the act of what you did so much as what you said after that. You said " if I have money to give, then I give it." It showed to me how much of a charitable heart you have and I was really impressed at how kind you are to all people around you.
11. Your awesome because of your developing interest in gospel doctrine. You we not really too into it for most your life, but the older you get, the more you are learning and understanding how things work. Your talks are helping you with this, and your chats with me and your brother in law and you are starting to see the value in knowing how things work.
And number 12.
You are awesome for your most abundant and strongest attribute... Your LOVE! You are one of the most loving people I have ever known. You care so much and people are always touched by you, and the love you have for them. Your actions are motivated by the love you have for others, we see it in the way you walk, talk and live. You are the greatest example to me of love and that's what I will alway think of when I think of my big sister.
So that's it... My 12 examples of how you are the awesomest!! Chur to you... Merry Christmas oi!!

And here's a couple of the other nice things that were said......

You have made me a better person because.............because you actually have a very positive attitude and perspective  by my sister.

Little things you do that I appreciate are.........i appreciate the littl things like sending my kids birthday cards every year and also ringing me and being on line all the time, i know i can talk to you 24/7 which is really comforting to know  by my sister
You are the one person who has sent me and still sends me Christmas cards and birthday cards since school...and you send Cooper cards now, it is the nicest thing ever and I am so grateful you remember and do it, I always look forward to them. Thanks so much  by my NZ BFF Kat

Something you do that makes me laugh.......U make me laugh... Remember when we got the giggles in the Salt Lake temple? Man I was sweeeet until you looked up at me with those intense eyes and funny look on your face because you had forgotten something... As soon as I saw that look it was all over man, giggle city like we were teenagers again hahaha miss it.   by Kat

things you do that make me laugh are when we are talking about how cool we are and how we ar the best at everything,,,,,i love our attitude's, im just glad no one can hear our conversations  by my sister

I'm glad you're in my life because..........
because,,,,,,who else would i talk to about EVERYTHING in all areas of my life who is SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you bay you         by my sister

When I describe you to others I say..........my sister from another Mother (coz no way anyone could've handled the two of us growing up together) my BFF in America...from NZ (such a mouthful but this is honestly what I say) she saw me through my darkest times, totally gets my sarcasms and sense of humour the same way I get hers no explanation needed. Time can pass without us speaking but when we finally get to again it's as if we've been just down the road from each other the whole time and always pick right back up. I'll never forget the day she first hugged me (anyone that really knows her knows she doesn't just give em away for free to anyone. Ya gotta earn that part of her) I knew we'd be mates forever after that. She always has MY back! Always!!! I miss her everyday!   by my Auzzie BFF Sherry

oh my sister is just like me and maybe a tad more upfront!!!!!!!!    lol by my sister.......so true man lol

A favourite funny memory of you (or us) together is..........
MY favourite memory of YOU was that same week when Haydn's mission mate came over and he was dry as and you took like a HUGE amount of mashed potatoes because you were talking too much and not concentrating and you were like "HOLY CRAP look how much mashed potatoes I just took!" Then you started basically peeing yourself and you spat your water everywhere which set me and Dru off and Haydn's mate just sat there, NO EMOTION! It was pretty awkward lol.   by my sister in law Jessie

Something I admire about you'
i really admire you determination and the "never give up" attitude,,,, LOVE IT MAN, i admire you as a mother and the efforts you put in to it, an i admire you patience with things too,,,,   by my sister

One of my favourite memories of us this past year was when we......Mines been you totally great efforts and strength in loosing 14kilos in a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that speaks for it self baye  by my sister

I know this post seems like I'm up myself, cause I'm putting up all these nice things people are saying about me.  But I think it's important for me to have this here for my kids/grandkids to read about their mum/grandmother you know.  I think we can be our own worst critics and sometimes it's nice to hear what others have to say about you, especially when you don't ask for it or are 'seeking' it out.

Christmas blues

A common theme I'm finding this season is the opposite of what it should be.
There's ill feelings, pressures, drama's, anger, hurt, sadness, worry and the list goes on.
What's going on?
Why the sad faces?
I think we may just need a time out from everything and everyone.
A time out to reflect on this season.
A time out to realise that people and their crap don't matter.
A time out to find love and forgivness in our hearts.
To find understanding and the good in others.
A time to look within and see what it is WE can do to make things work for ourselves and our families.
A time out to draw closer to Christ and see what it is that WE can do to improve our outlook on ourselves and others at the moment.
I like to think people are good, that they want to be good, and that they are trying to be good.
Does that mean they're perfect?  Certainly not, but if we really see people, I mean really see them, we can see that they have goodness in them and that they're probably doing the best they see fit.
Let's not blame others, let's look within, for as we look within we stop pointing the finger outwards, for as we look within, in there lies the beginnings of greatness, in there lies the answers to our questions, the solutions to our problems, the peace we need from the outside pressures, the calm that we need in our storms,
Within we find Christ, within we find comfort then what's going on in the 'out' will not affect us as much anymore, and we've began our journey towards being more Christlike and more forgiving, more understanding and more tolerant of others.
I have much to work on and much to be grateful for, but I always try to find the good in people, because as I do that, then and only then can I begin the journey of serving them and knowing what it is I need to do to be able to serve, love and be stronger within so I know the best way to live my life.
I hope we can all be happy and comforted with all our worries and strifes.
The more I listen the more I realize I'm not the only one with worries and the more you listen the more you'll realize you are not alone either.
We should pull together, instead of pulling apart, be united in Christ, rather than separated in Satan.
Tis the season to remember what life is really about, and it's about Christ and who He is to us and where we stand with him.
I hope we can remember..................remember what's really important.

Last night...........

 So last night was nice.
It started off with my mate Rachelle dropping of these bad boys.  "Wait" you say "Aren't they baked goods?"
No, no, they're HEALTHY brownies made of all these NATURAL ingredients like coconut oil and crazy organic stuff that I can't remember the name of.  They're ACTUALLY GOOD FOR YOU.
I couldn't even believe it.
So I ate three and didn't even feel bad..................just kinda full.
These might save me this season.  When I feel like eating crap food, I'll just have one of these.
Dru said "How are they?  Can I have one?"
I'm like sure.
He took one bite then put them back.  LOL Dru man, doesn't like eating outside of the box of his own little food world.  That's ok, more for me.  The kids asked for one as well and I told them no.  No good wasting good food on them.  They can have the real stuff man, these are all mine.
Thanks Rachelle.  Very thoughtful.
We then headed out to Pack Meeting.  I usually don't go but Dru guilted me into going by saying "Melissa I think it's important we be there as a family to support him while getting this badge"
I'm like "Alright, alright man"  Well Emiko ran around like a crazy person and got lost.  We had to put out a search party for her.
This just reminded me of why we don't go to these things as a family.  I'm FINE with going WITHOUT the kids!!
I'd like to say NEVER AGAIN, but I'd probably be lying.
Anyway I left Dru with the kids and headed out to the local High School Choir night.  My Laurel in YW's invited me to go as she had a solo part.........which she totally rocked............and wanted me to be there.
So I went.
I sat down and saw this girl (another sweet Laurel I know) trying not to fall asleep.  I let her bob and weave for a few minutes then tapped her on the shoulder and told her to come and sit with me and go to sleep on my shoulder.  Poor thing.  She told me she's up till 1 or 2 every night trying to do her homework.  No wonder she's falling asleep.  Having babies for these girls won't be a problem if they're already used to staying up all night and living with next to no sleep!!!!
It was nice to sit with her and catch up on life.
And here's the star of the show.
It was a fun night and I'm glad I went.
I came home to Dru multi-tasking by sewing the kids Christmas presents while talking to a mate who's frustrated with moving.
Did I mention that my husband is awesome?
I went to bed and left him to it.  But I didn't get much sleep.  I had the worst allergies and was coughing and sneezing for a couple of hours.  I finally took some meds and then sleep the night away.
I didn't go to bootcamp this morning though *sigh* so now I'll have to go two mornings in a row to make up for it.  Oh well.

Sick kids

Here's what's going on in the Nakaya household as of late.  Kids sleeping all over the place, sick with a cold.
Masaru got it first.  He came home in tears because he'd fallen asleep in class and had to be woken up for his classmates.  He was embarrassed about it all.  Then he proceeded to fall asleep on the couch for the rest of the night...............and then when he woke up, he basically sleep the rest of Friday as well.  By Saturday he was finally ok.
But then Sunday Yuki started feeling sick.  Then she slept the rest of Sunday and all of yesterday.
Today she's starting to feel better so we'll send her to school.
She's such a trooper though.  She had an appointment yesterday to get a cavity filled and totally did it without a peep, sick and all.  I mean if that doesn't scream superhero, I dunno what does.  Poor thing.
So here she is {above} just basically falling asleep on the ground by the front door.  I'm not sure why she chose there, but she did.  So eventually I put a blanket on her and a little pillow under her head.
Dru had to give her a blessing for her to get a decent nights sleep on Sunday.  Yaaa for the priesthood.
Here's Takeshi taking a much needed cat nap on his bed with his monkey's.  He hasn't been as sick as the other two yet.  So I'm just kinda waiting around.
I'm glad they're getting it out of their systems BEFORE we head down to Utah, so we're not getting everyone else sick.  No time is perfect to be sick, but I'm sure glad it's now and not a week from now right?

Sweet little Emiko is sick as well.  Every time she sneezes she looks like a walrus with her snot everywhere.  She's good though man, she'll wait patiently with her snot hanging out for me to quickly grab the tissue and wipe it all up.  Her eyes water and she has a cough.  SO.SAD.  She doesn't have a fever though, so I haven't given her any meds just yet.  Hopefully it'll pass sooner rather than later.  She just needs more hugs and more attention than before, which basically means ALL THE TIME.  Oh well, that's my job right? Defender and protector of sicknesses.
Fun times.

It's the little things.........

So a bunch of us got together and decided to car pool out to Star (50 mins) to a mates Christmas party.
There were four of us couples all in our eight seater Sienna.
We had a great time.
Coming home we were all laughing and talking when we came to a stop light.  It turned green but Dru paused............just then a white, huge, truck came screaming through a red light to our left at full speed.
Had Dru pulled out when the light had turned green, our night would've been a different story and some of us would probably not be here to tell the tale and be with our kids.

We talked about it a little in the car and what 'could've been' and how grateful we all were that Dru paused before going through the green 'totally legal' light.
I'm not sure what this driver was up to, but I'm sure glad that we weren't in his way.  I hope his kid was dying or something.
You might think this is pure luck, I think it's a miracle wrapped up with protection from the Lord.
We were all meant to get home to our children that night and thanks to a little pause, we made it.

I hope we can all sit back and see the little miracles that are happening in our lives and be grateful, grateful for what we have, for our lives, for our loves and for our Lord.
I'm grateful that we made it home, all in one piece and that the night continued to be filled with fun, laughter and good times for all, as the Christmas season should be right?

Emi and her sweet moves

We watched 'Turbo' for movie night last night.  The kids loved it.  At the end Emiko was dancing around to the music at the end credits.  It was so funny.  She loves music and loves to dance, like her mother.  So we'll dance around the house daily.
I love her fist pumps she does and the squat stance.  So cute man.

12 days of Christmas

Since I love to bake I'm going to do 12 days of Christmas baking and give it away to people.
I don't want to receive any baking from anyone this year.  I know that sounds grinch-ish but I'm hoping people will bypass our house and think of other needy families to feed goodness to.
Now this sounds slightly hypocritical doesn't it?
Well I guess it is.............but it's my true feelings and we'd hate for me to share any false feelings right?
Truth is I'm trying to reach a goal and if you all REALLY LOVED ME you'd help me to reach that goal by NOT giving us any baked goods.
Flowers, money, jewelry, nice notes, spiritual thoughts.  These would be welcomed on my doorstep.
I'll give whatever I'm baking to my children and husband so don't worry THEY won't miss out.

I LOVE, love, love to bake................but I also love, love, love to eat my baking, this is a problem when reaching goals.
I'm no fanatic.  I had 3 cupcakes the other night that Dru made because I just simply couldn't resist!!  He has the best red velvet cupcakes you'll ever try in your life.
And in there lies the problem, my self control!! Turns out I have little, and when baked goods are around it hangs by a thread.
I treat myself, but I've had a lifelong habit of binging that I've managed to somewhat control as of late.
Having plates and plates of baked goods around is something I don't want right now.  I'm busy, and slightly stressed and need to watch myself closely.
Other people don't have my problem.
Other people relish in the baked goods and let themselves have December and love it and own it.
These are the people I will bake for.  People who will embrace the baking and will love it and apprecaite it.
I will not appreciate people's baking.  I will probably throw it out.  So if your thinking of coming to the Nakaya's with your baked goods......................................you had your warning.

So onto better news.
What am I going to bake today you ask?
I'm going to bake two of my visiting teaching families some pumpkin roll goodness.
I'm excited.
It looks good and I know it'll taste great.

 http://www.favfamilyrecipes.com/2012/12/pumpkin-rolls.html

Should be fun.
I'm also doing this activity with all 16 of my face book friends.  Another reason only having 16 friends is a plus on face book.

Merry Christmas blogger friends.
Any 12 days things you'll be doing for anyone?

My Talk I gave today at church

THE PRE-MORTAL SAVIOUR
Christ is the Firstborn
The first Presidency of the Church has stated that “all men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity.”  And yet as noble as that heritage is, there was one who far transcended all the rest, who through the eons and ages of a premortal existence stood “like unto God” (Abraham 3:24).  This was the firstborn spirit child of all the Father’s creations—the birthright son—whom we know as our Saviour.
“And now, verily I say unto you, I was in the beginning with the Father, and am the Firstborn” D&C 93:21
“Among the spirit children of Elohim the first-born was and is Jehovah to whom all others are juniors.”
(statement made by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve given in 1916)
President Joseph Fielding Smith stated
“Jesus possessed all the right, interests, and inheritance of the Father.  He was the Birthright Son.  He was in premortality the inheritor and rightful heir of all the Father possessed.  He was the Father’s agent and executor, the “Word,” or “messenger of salvation”  Thus, Latterday Saints believe that the words of John’s introduction to his Gospel should be taken literally, at face value:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:1-3)
Christ is our Elder Brother
Jesus Christ was indeed the firstborn of heavenly parents and is, as pertaining to our first estate, our Elder Brother.
There is no impropriety, therefore, in speaking of Jesus Christ as the Elder Brother of the rest of humankind.  That He is by spiritual birth Brother to the rest of us .
Christ is God and Father as well
How is he father and God?
#1 CREATOR
First of all, the premortal Jesus was a powerful and experienced creator during His premortal existence.
He is the Father as Creator, the Father of the heavens and the earth.
#2 JEHOVAH
A second way Jesus’ godhood was demonstrated in premortal life was through his position as the Great Jehovah, the God of ancient Israel, the Divine Being graphically described in the pages of the Old Testament who gave laws to His covenant people and sustained them in the promised land.
All revelation since the fall has come through Jesus Christ, who is the Jehovah of the Old Testament.  In all of the scriptures, where God is mentioned and where he has appeared, it was Jehovah who talked with Abraham, with Noah, Enoch, MOese and all the prophets.  He is the God of Israel, the Holy One of Israel; the one who led that nation out of Egyptian bondage, and who gave and fulfilled the Law of Moses.  The father (Elohim) has never dealt with man directly and personally since the fall, and he has never appeared except to introduce and bear record of the Son.
#3  Acting on behalf of Elohim.
A third way in which Jesus’ premortal godhood was manifested was in His role as spokesman for God the  Father or, more specifically, His right and commission to speak as though He were Himself God the Father.
“I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and I are one” (3 Nephi 11:27)
Elohim has placed his name upon the Son, has given him his own power and authority, and has authorized him to speak in the first person as though he were the original or primal Father.
Throughout section 29 of the Doctrine and Covenants, the Saviour is speaking sometimes as Himself and sometimes as though He were the Father.  It is by the operation of this principle that the premortal Jesus, acting as the Great Jehovah, spoke as though He were God the Father, and in so doing manifested His own greatness, glory, and godhood, as well as His oneness with Elohim.
#4 Father of the Righteous
A forth way is that He is the Father of those who abide in his gospel,  the Father of all those who take upon themselves his name and are adopted into his family.
And the light which shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings.
As he stated to the Brother of Jared “Behold, I am he who was prepared from the foundation of the world to redeem my people.  Behold, I am Jesus Christ.  I am the Father and the Son.  In me shall all mankind have light, and become my sons and my daughters.
As we more fully accept the gospel and move forward with Christ as our focal point, we will become His sons and daughters and be adopted into his fold.
Jesus was recognized as the Son of God by the Legions in the New Testament.  If we read in Mark 5:6-7 it says; 6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
Even these demons recognized Jesus as the Son of God.  How would they recognize them?  Because he existed in the Premortal life and was all powerful.  Otherwise I don’t think they would’ve plead for him not to ‘torment’ them.
Jesus also acknowledges himself, his own relationship with God and His power in the pre-mortal world.
If we look in John 17:5  This is the Saviour Himself praying to His Father on the eve of Gethsemane, we read “And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was”
Through this scripture we gain insight to the relationship, glory and oneness the Saviour had with His Father.
As Lord and God the Saviour didn’t do it all, however.
There are two creative events that are his (Elohim) and his alone.  First, he is the Father of all spirits, Christ’s included; none were fathered or created by anyone else.  Second, he is the Creator of the physical body of man.  Though Jehovah and Michael and many of the noble and great one played their assigned roles in the various creative events, yet when it came time to place man on earth, the Lord God himself performed the creative acts.  In Moses 2:27 we read “I, God, created man in mine own image, in the image of mine Only Begotten created I him; make and female created I them.”
As I read previously, however, we know that everything else was directed and lead by the Saviour.
War in Heaven
I believe the war in heaven wasn’t one of swords, axes, or weapons but rather a war of testimony, faith and belief.
Let’s study together about the war in heaven and what took place.
President John Taylor said:
“Lucifer came before us all with a plan of his own, saying, ‘Behold (here am) I; send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore, give me thine honor.’
Why did Satan want the honour?
Why did he want to force redemption on all?
Pres. Taylor continues:
“But Jesus, on hearing this statement made by Lucifer, said, ‘Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.’
From these remarks made by the well beloved Son, we should naturally infer that in the discussion of this subject the Father had made known His will and developed His plan and design pertaining to these matters, and all that His well beloved Son wanted to do was the carry out the will of His Father, as it would appear had been before expressed.  He also wished the glory to be given to His Father, who, as God the Father, and the originator and designer of the plan, had a right to all the honour and glory.
But Lucifer wanted to introduce a plan contrary to the will of his Father , and then wanted His honour, and said: ‘I will save every soul of man, wherefore give me thine honour’  He wanted to go contrary to the will of his Father, and presumptuously sought to deprive man of his free agency, thus making him a serf or peasant, and placing him in a position in which it was impossible for him to obtain that exaltation which God designed should be man’s, through obedience to the law which He had suggested; and again, Lucifer wanted the honour and power of his Father, to enable him to carry out principles which were contrary to the Father’s wish.”
Therefore it’s no wonder, knowing this information, that Heavenly Father answered with the following:
Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me—Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.  Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down; and he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.”
So I don’t think Satan took this answer too well and, as was just stated, he rebelled and took a third part of the hosts of heaven with him.
So sad.  I can’t imagine the feelings and thoughts of our Father as well as our Elder Brother Jesus Christ as these hosts left with Lucifer and gave up their first estates.
But then ‘the humble offer of Jesus the first-born—to assume mortality and live among men as their Exemplar and Teacher, observing the sanctity of man’s agency but teaching men to use aright that divine heritage—was accepted.’  And we rejoiced.
So let’s look into Jesus role in this a little more.
If we turn to Revelations chapter 5 it says “in the right hand of him that sat on the throne (was) a book…..sealed with seven seals”
The book represents the revealed will of God (his plan of salvation) for this earth, and the seals represent the seven thousand year of the earth’s temporal exisitence (see D&C 77:6-7)
“John wept much because there was no one found worthy of opening the book, or, in other words, no one capable of knowing the mind and will of God in it’s fullness, no one powerful enough to execute God’s plan—no one, that is, until John was shown the Saviour.
It seems that John is telling us, amoung other things, that Jesus is the only one who emerges from the whole host of the Father’s children who is able to know the aims and desires of the Father in their entirety, and the only being worthy and powerful enough to put into effect the Father’s plan, the only perfect being in premortality who voluntarily yielded His agency to the Father and selflessly offered to be the Redeemer.”
Andrew C Skinner
Let’s continue to dig deeper into how awesome the Saviour is
“The premortal Saviour was the chief proponent of the Father’s plan of salvation for His children.  A hallmark of the Saviour’s personality in premortality as well as mortality was humility: He humbly offered to be our Redeemer, to put into effect the Father’s plan, to sacrifice His own comfort and lofty position to do His Father’s will and yet to give the honour and glory to the Father.  However, in the subjugating His own will to the will of the Father, in freely giving His agency over to the Father, the premortal Jesus acquired even greater power.
This is a powerful lesson for all of the Father’s children.  Whenever we freely give back to God the one and only thing that is really our own to give---our agency--- we lose nothing but gain back even greater power than we had before.  And the premortal Jesus is our exemplar” (see Moses 1:1-4)
Andrew C Skinner
Are we willing to give up our own ‘lofty positions’ for our Heavenly Father?  Are we humbly submitting to the Father’s will?
So what was our role is the War in Heaven?
We had the opportunity to choose.
In the book ‘Articles of Faith’ it says;
“Thus it is shown that prior to the placing of man upon the earth, how long before we do not know, Christ and Satan, together with the hosts of the spirit-children of God, existed as intelligent individuals, possessing power and opportunity to choose the course they would pursue and the leaders whom they would follow and obey.”
We were participants.
We took a stand.
We had faith that the Saviour would do as he promised and save us all.
We had faith that he would not fail.
We laid it all on the line, chose, and went forward with faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
We trusted.
We believed.
Then the Saviour showed faith in us.  He had faith that we would do what we were asked to do.
President Lorenzo Snow said;
“Jesus was a god before he came into this world and yet his knowledge was taken from him.  He did not know his former greatness, neither do we know what greatness we had attained to before we came here, but he had to pass through an ordeal, as we have to, without knowing or realizing at the time the greatness and importance of his mission and works.”
How great is our mission?
How great are our works?
We passed through the veil and have had to re-gain our testimony.  Once we found our testimonies we had to LIVE the gospel and witness with all of our HEART and SOULS that JESUS IS THE CHIRST and that he was FORORDAINED, and that he did EVERYTHING HE SAID HE’D DO.
It is OUR job, brothers and sisters, to witness to other that salvation today and do all we can to come CLOSER TO CHRIST.
The atonement is for ALL yet there’s an individual feeling of ‘saving’ that Christ gives us if we allow Him to.
All of us together with this witness and healing power can be great.  We can be a great force for Christ.
Will WE be that force?
‘The Atonement was and is truly eternal in it’s operation, covering our premortal existence as well as our mortal sojourn, and affecting God’s children forever.’
Skinner
‘What he did in scarcely more than three decades of mortal life was not just chance.  He was not an ordinary man.  He was the great Creator housed in a tabernacle of clay.  He was the Eternal Jehovah ministering among men.  He was God’s Almighty Son doing the things his Father sent him to do.  He inherited from the Father of his mortal body the powers and characteristics of his Perfect Parent.  He was placed in a position to excel all men.
He was the Only Begotten of the Father, the only Son born into mortality as the Offspring of an Immortal Being.  He was both God and the Son of God.  He was the Promised Messiah.”
Bruce R Mckonkie
I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and his foreordination to this calling.  Truly I am nothing without him.  He’s my Saviour and my exemplar.  He’s showed me the perfect path to being his daughter and to returning to my Father above.  I hope I can humbly remember His great mission, His sacrifice for all and His willingness to GIVE ALL to His Father so as to help each and every one of us to return home.
I hope I can testify boldly of this truth, for IT IS truth brothers and sisters, I hope to bring people closer to Christ through witnessing of his divinity and mission for all on earth.  I hope I can gain power through submitting my will to the Fathers and therefore be able to work harder for His people through service and love.
I love him, I owe all to Him and I’m humbled by his commitment to me and us despite my and your imperfectness.
King Benjamin and Abinadi were right when they said “God Himself came down among us”
And he saved us all.
This is my humble witness in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
